Note: Jimmy is one of the most shut down and closed off horses that his foster has ever worked with. The mental damage on this horse was extensive and the damage ran deep. We are not sure what human failed him so horribly, but someone was not kind to this boy. It has taken quite a while to get him to even start to trust, but we are slowly making progress. He is learning that someone being in his space is ok. He is finally starting to soften his head and allow his face to be touched. Finally, after all this time, his foster says she can see him starting to reach out. He is still very cautious but she can finally feel hope. He is trying, so hard, to allow her in. She stays soft with him for now, because being pushed hard is just not something he is ready for. He needs to learn to trust, and that will come with time, but on his terms and on his timeline. He needs to understand that not all humans are cruel, and we feel this guy has learned how cruel some humans can be. His ideal adopter is someone that will continue to teach him kindness. He wants to be with someone who understands what he needs to feel safe. He’s still pretty apprehensive about it, but he IS trying. Jimmy is still a work in progress.
